About us

Since 1980 we have been offering technological leadership, reliability and intrinsic value in matters of automated test systems

As a leading partner in the electronics industry, Digitaltest develops and produces automated test systems (ATE) for electronic circuit boards, software for automating production, and quality management systems. Digitaltest is known for innovative solutions for optimizing the entire manufacturing process – as an interface between CAD, the testing process and production itself. We also offer comprehensive service and support, including complete outsourcing of PCB testing at locations worldwide.

Test quality, comprehensive defect coverage and short test times are our strengths. It is our conviction that offering excellent service as well as further innovative development of the test systems – for In-Circuit test (ICT), function test as well as Flying Probe test – and software solutions are essential to our success.

We support you with high-value and innovative solutions for producing secure and flawlessly functioning electronic products of high quality.

From a dream to global market leader

Our story begins with the dream of the youngest son of an Egyptian radio salesman. In his father’s shop in Cairo our founder Dr. Grant Boctor discovered his fascination for new technologies. He got it in his head that one day he would go to the country which printed “Made in Germany” on so many radios.

With 150 Deutsch Marks and a degree in power engineering in his pocket, the 21-year old Grant Boctor actually left for Germany in 1968 – against the wishes of his father. He studied electrical engineering in Karlsruhe and followed up his Master’s degree with a doctorate. In 1980, the year his degree was awarded, the newly minted Doctor Boctor founded Digitaltest. The success story of our now globally recognized firm based in Stutensee began in this modest engineering firm in Karlsruhe.

From software developer to systems manufacturer

It began with the development of functional and in-circuit test programs for Siemens, but soon we were specializing in complete test system solutions including the appropriate production software. The goal was and remains to assist the entire electronics industry with advanced test solutions for producing reliable, functioning electronic products of high quality.

The tradition continues

The special spirit, the passion for development and technology as well as the family-like atmosphere continues on at Digitaltest following the sudden death of our founder in 2005. Not least embodied by his wife Ute Boctor and his daughter Sarah Boctor-Vauvert, who form the management together with Hans Baka, who has been with the company for many years. A number of the nearly 40 employees working today in Germany have been dedicated to Digitaltest for several decades.

The “Made in Germany” idea becomes reality

Today the once idealistic dream of the Egyptian boy has become reality. Digitaltest has become one of the leading providers of electronic test systems worldwide, whose products proudly bear the “Made in Germany” mark. We can look out over 35 years of company history, nearly 100 employees worldwide, partner locations in USA, Great Britain, Singapore and Egypt, and sales partners all over the world.

We continue to grow and advance, so that 2016 saw a new production building constructed and occupied.
