Functional Test

Functional tests simulate the real environment of PCBs and thus force switching operations that otherwise can only be checked in the installed state. Voltages, currents and other measured variables are set and switching sequences are processed and checked as they would occur in reality. The functional test does not require any complex fixtures and can often be carried out via the peripheral connectors alone. However, the test program cannot be created automatically and requires a great deal of know-how and understanding of the functionality of the board.
